Ninja returns to Twitch following Mixer shutdown
Former channel restored, now up to 14.9 million followers
Popular games streamer Tyler 'Ninja' Blevins has returned to Twitch, the site where he first rose to prominence.
Blevins famously abandoned Twitch last year when he signed an exclusivity deal with Microsoft to stream his gaming sessions on Mixer. He was reportedly paid up to $30 million as part of the deal.
However, since Microsoft closed Mixer last month and shifted its users to Facebook Gaming, Blevins has been searching for another platform to host his streams.
He has previously been seen streaming on YouTube, but as of this afternoon he has also returned to Twitch. At the time of writing, he has already broadcast matches in Fortnite and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with other streamers.
InfluencerUpdate.biz notes his original Twitch channel has been restored, complete with all his previous broadcasts and 14.8 million followers. At the time of writing, this has risen to 14.9 million.
Blevins' first new Twitch stream -- a Fortnite match with fellow streamer Dr Lupo -- attracted 96,000 concurrent viewers.
His return to Twitch has not been heralded by any sort of announcement, with Blevins simply tweeting a link to the Fortnite match broadcast.
We spoke to Xbox boss Phil Spencer last month, who told us that while he was disappointed by Mixer's closure, he has no regrets about the company's investment into the streaming site.
