Space Ape teams with London universities on free games masterclasses

Six-session course will cover game design, community engagement and more, classes will also be livestreamed

London-based developer Space Ape Games has partnered with a duo of leading university to create a free introduction to a career in games development.

The Space Ape Varsity Masterclasses are a collection of six sessions run in collaboration with the University College London and the University of Greenwich, all of which will take place this month.

Anyone unable to attend in person will be able to catch the classes via Space Ape's Twitch channel. The Greenwich sessions will be livestreamed on Mondays at 6pm GMT, followed by the UCL classes at 5pm GMT on Tuesdays.

The sessions are tailored around specific disciplines of games development and draw on the knowledge of the teams behind the studio's biggest successes, such as Rival Kingdoms and Transformers: Earth Wars.

Topics covered included game design, development, community engagement, and best practices for UI/UX. The courses are aimed at aspiring developers and those who are planning to study further at university.

Classes held in Greenwich will focus on game development, while the UCL sessions will concentrate on competitive play. All sessions are free, with Space Ape teasing additional goodies for those who physically attend. The first will take place on March 5th, while the last will be on March 20th.

Earlier this week, we interviewed Space Ape Games about the company's ongoing quest to find that breakout hit.
