Miniclip acquires Online Soccer Manager studio Gamebasics

Deal aims to strengthen Miniclip's position in mobile sports market, Netherlands studio working on unannounced titles

Mobile games publisher Miniclip has acquired Gamebasics for an undisclosed sum.

The studio, based in Zoetermeer, Netherlands, is best known for Online Soccer Manager, a title that serves three million users every month.

The 60-person team behind OSM will now work as part of Miniclip, with its new parent helping the company to grow.

Founded in 2014, Gamebasics will continue to develop the OSM franchise and work on new unannounced titles.

Miniclip has said the acquisition was made to "cement [its] position in the mobile sports category."

Last year, Miniclip acquired UK-based developer Eight Pixels Square, and the year before that it took over Head Ball creator Masomo.
