Creative England and Microsoft have once again teamed up to run Greenshoots, a funding initiative aimed at helping independent developers accelerate their projects.
After the impressive £500,000 offered last year, the fund has returned to its previous amount of £250,000 with grants of anywhere between £50,000 and £200,000 available to successful applicants.
As usual, Greenshoots is about more than just funding. Indies enrolled will be invited to a series of workshops designed to help them grow and sustain their business, offering insight into marketing, publishing, pitching and other essential non-development disciplines. Previous applicants have also been able to access shared workspaces, Xbox dev kits and more.
Applications are now open to all small-to-medium games companies based in England but outside of London. Titles can be in development for either Xbox One or Windows 10, although developers will not be required to release exclusively on Microsoft platforms. All applicants will retain the rights to their IP.
The deadline for applications is Friday, January 13th, with funding issued to the winners in April 2017. To apply visit creativeengland.co.uk/games/greenshoots.
