Elder Scrolls Online for console delayed by six months - report

"We'll need about six more months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve"

The console version of The Elder Scrolls Online may be delayed by six months, according to a now deleted post on the game's official site.

The PC version of ZeniMax Online's MMO was launched in April, but it was greeted by mixed reviews from the press and widespread criticism for its litany of bugs.

Now, the ever diligent Reddit community has spotted an admission that the console version will be delayed six months beyond its initial June release date in an FAQ on the TESO site.

"The Elder Scrolls Online officially launched on April 4, 2014 on PC and Mac. While it has become clear that our planned June release of the console versions isn't going to be possible, we have made great progress, we have concluded that we'll need about six more months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve."

The line of text regarding the delay has since been removed, but the Reddit community took a screenshot to preserve its original form. According to Reddit, since then Bethesda has been deleting posts regarding the content of the text on its social media channels.

Thanks The Escapist.

Immediately raising the question whether that means PC players also got what they deserved, or where certification draws the line.

Well, the good news is that when it launches on console, the game should be in the state that it should have launched with PC. However, by that time it should be clear whether P2P is working for PC, as a P2P game is even more risky on console. I suspect they might be considering other options by that time.

If they need to delay it by 6 months what did the PC players get right now? An advanced beta? After playing the beta myself I already was sure I'll keep my hands off this game and it looks like it was a good decision.

Diablo III, anyone? That game arguably came to consoles in better form than it did on PC for those of us who wanted to play it out of the box (although I still want that blasted Reaper of Souls expansion on the PS3 and 360, as it's quite awesome). Granted, there won't be an offline mode in TESO, but I'd bet the console version will get the fixes the PC version will be getting and hopefully, be something that's better received by players and critics...

We'll see.
