Wooga moves into fourth in Appdata metrics

70 strong social company overtakes Playdom with 20 million MAU

Berlin-based social developer Wooga has moved up into fourth place on the Appdata metrics user chart, topping 20 million monthly average users for the first time and overtaking Disney-owned Playdom.

Only Zynga, EA and Crowdstar are ranked higher in the table, which collects data on Facebook users. Just three weeks ago, Wooga was celebrating a promotion to fifth - and CEO Jens Begemann thinks his company can rise higher still.

"Capturing 20 million active Users in just 20 months and surpassing Playdom to become number four in the world is a stunning accomplishment," said Begemann. "We will remain focused on producing high quality games with a unique game experience for the future. With our ambitious team, we aim to become number two by the end of this year."

Wooga produces Monster World, Bubble Island, Brain Buddies, Happy Hospital and Diamond Dash for Facebook. The company was founded in 2009 by Begemann and Philipp Moeser, receiving €5 million in VC funding from Balderton Capital and HV Holtzbrinck Ventures in summer of that year.
