Team17 hires Iguana Entertainment founders

Worms developer acquires assets from independent developer

Team17 has acquired a number of assets from independent developer Iguana Entertainment, and added the company's co-founders to its senior staff.

Brothers Jason Falcus and Darren Falcus will take the roles of head of studio development and senior manager of business development respectively.

"Joining Team17, a studio with such a heritage of making great games which people clearly love to play is an exciting prospect," said Darren Falcus.

Jason Falcus added, "Team17 has always been synonymous with creating quality, internationally successful games, and I am also relishing the opportunity to be working with their talented studio on some fantastic new games and projects."

Iguana was founded in 2009, and is currently working with Team17 on a Worms social game for Facebook. The company has its own cross-platform engine, and has recently developed Phil Taylor's Power Play Darts for the Nintendo DS, and Treasure Twist.

"We are delighted to welcome Jason and Darren to Team17. They bring a wealth of cross-platform knowledge across an array of genres," Team17 MD Debbie Bestwick.

"Iguana is a young and highly talented studio with an established base of skills and experienced staff. Their more recent experience within social games and Facebook development in-particular makes them an ideal fit for Team17 as we expand further into digital, mobile and web development. Jason and Darren will play a key part in fulfilling our future plans for the company, with their industry and gaming knowledge. It is great to have them on board."
