Relentless and PlayJam partner on connected TVs

Buzz! developer to provide games for portal as services launch this month

Buzz! developer Relentless Software is to create games for the new PlayJam Portal on Samsung and LG smart televisions, with the service due to launch this month.

PlayJam first secured distribution deals for connected TV services back in January of 2010, with its games now being bundled with all future LG Smart TVs and Blu-ray players.

PlayJam's portal uses the company's own propriety social and monetisation platform, named Phoenix. The platform includes options for cross-network tournaments, leaderboards, mass participation gaming, virtual currencies and customer relationship management.

Other notable services for connected televisions include those from Netflix, Roxio, Cinema Now, Pandora and Vudu.

"We are excited at the opportunity to partner with a developer such as Relentless who have a proven track record of delivering highly successful games the whole family can enjoy. Such content will greatly enhance the PlayJam proposition and secure its position as the number one games company for TV worldwide," said PlayJam business development director Anthony Johnson.

"Relentless has always made games for everyone and we are very excited about the opportunity to engage with a larger audience via Smart & Connected TVs. PlayJam's 12 years of experience in delivering games for TV makes it the ideal parter to work with when looking to exploit the tens of millions of Connected TVs already in the marketplace," added Relentless chief executive director Andrew Eades.

"With Smart TV take-up projected to run into hundreds of millions of devices by 2014, we are confident that this platform will play a key part in the success of future Relentless titles," he added.
