Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake switches studios

Ubisoft Montreal takes over from publisher's Pune and Mumbai studios, "will now take the time they need to regroup"

Ubisoft has taken the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time away from its Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai studios, with work on the game to be led by Ubisoft Montreal going forward.

"This decision is an important step and the team, building upon the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time they need to regroup on the scope of the game to deliver you the best experienced for this remake of an all-time classic, when it's ready," the publisher said on Twitter.

The game was originally announced in September of 2020 as a "full-scale remake" of the 2003 original that would sell at a budget $40 price point.

It was initially given a January 2021 release date, but that was delayed by a couple months, then postponed indefinitely, then given a 2022 release window.
