OnLive to launch in UK on Sept 22

Cloud gaming service officially launches at Eurogamer Expo; 1000's of gaming systems to be given free to attendees

Cloud gaming company OnLive will launch its UK service at the opening of the Eurogamer Expo on September 22.

To celebrate the launch OnLive will give away thousands of free systems to Eurogamer attendees. The systems will allow instant access to over a hundred games via an HDTV and broadband internet connection.

OnLive will also appear at the Expo to give attendees sneak previews of upcoming games and OnLive technology, and special OnLive promotions.

"OnLive will utterly transform gaming in the UK," commented founder and CEO Steve Perlman.

"No discs, big downloads or specialised hardware needed. OnLive gives you the latest games instantly, anytime, anywhere on HDTV, PC, Mac, as well as iPad, Android tablets. High-performance gaming as accessible as streaming video, with unique social features such as massive spectating with voice chat and Facebook integration."

OnLive membership is free, and gives users access to demos, trailers and over a hundred games to rent or buy. UK users can take advantage of special bundles like the OnLive PlayPack, which allows unlimited access to more than 70 games including Borderlands and F.E.A.R. 3 multiplayer.

OnLive launched its service in the US in June 2010. The service now includes games like Duke Nukem Forever, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Red Faction: Armageddon.

The Eurogamer Expo takes place between September 22–25, and will also feature some of the biggest titles from publishers like Sega, EA, Bethesda and Konami.
