NetEase launches new Tokyo-based studio

Sakura Studio will focus on next-generation console game production

Today, NetEase has announced the launch of a new game studio based in Tokyo, Japan, called Sakura Studio.

In a Facebook post, NetEase said that the studio would be a "next-generation console game production studio."

"NetEase Games is hoping to integrate technology and manufacturing advantages to provide game lovers a brand new gaming experience like never before," the post continued."

During its last quarterly financials, NetEase made note of the "extended international recognition" for its games, especially in Japan, where games like Knives Out and Identity V are enjoying popularity.

Earlier this week, the company sought and received a secondary listing on the Hong Kong stock exchange alongside its existing listing in the US.
