Humble Bundle announces third annual Black Game Developers Fund

Initiative adds projects from Code Blue Games, GxGrainSon, Joseph Hooker, Ritual Games, and Ryan Huggins

Today Humble Bundle has announced it will commit to $1 million towards publishing games by Black game makers via its Black Game Developers Fund.

This is the third consecutive year for the publishing firm's imitative.

This year it has added five new projects that will receive financial support.

  • Arcus Chroma by GxGrainSon
  • Unannounced Joseph Hooker project
  • Unannounced Ritual Games project
  • Weather Sweater by Ryan Huggins

Shortly after launching the Black Game Developers Fund, Humble Bundle named Sithe Ncube and Justin Woodward as the fund's strategic advisors.

During the program's first two years they've selected over 30 Black independent developers and Black led studios to receive financial support.

In January of this year GamesIndustry.Biz spoke with the advisors about the initiative's rebranding.

"Games need a lot of resources, and some people don't even have the resources to get to a phase where they can present a decent game, even if they have the skills to make one," Ncube said.

"I think being able to give people more access to resources, especially earlier in the development process, as well as different forms of mentorship -- that would be really helpful."
