Eurogamer Network, publisher of GamesIndustry.biz, is to hire a US editor as part of plans to expand the site's focus and provide 24 hour news coverage for the global videogames industry.

The new member of staff will be responsible for helping to ensure that GI.biz is constantly updated with breaking stories, and for providing a steady stream of news exclusives and industry insight.

The successful candidate will also be required to produce news articles for Eurogamer.net, the UK's leading consumer gaming website, although the main focus will be on trade news. Both sites are published by Eurogamer Network.

"Now that we've firmly established GI.biz as the essential resource for gaming professionals in all sectors of the industry, it's time to look at how we can broaden our appeal and offer more value to readers," said managing director Rupert Loman.

"Hiring a US editor is key to our strategy of expanding the site and making sure we're the market leader as we move further into 2007."

For more information about the requirements of the role and how to apply, visit the GamesIndustry.biz jobs page. The closing date for applications is February 23, with interviews to be held at GDC 2007 between March 5 - 9.
