Epic Games partners with Mail.Ru to fund indie titles

Selected developers will also benefit from Russian firm's marketing and analytics services

Unreal Engine creator Epic Games has announced a new partnership that will help more new studio fund their titles and bring them to market.

The company has teamed up with Mail.Ru Games Ventures (MRGV), an investment-focused division of Russia-based internet giant Mail.Ru Group in a deal that will see both firms assist with development and, more importantly, funding.

There's no specific figure as to how much funding will be available, but the successful developers will be selected by MRGV and invited to apply for investment.

If funded, studios will also receive further support from MRGV in the form of analytics tools, marketing support, data security tech and other gaming services the Mail.Ru Group runs.

Epic's contribution to the deal centres around games technology, not the least of which will be access to and support for Unreal Engine 4, its flagship product.

Epic and MRGV will also work together on educational initiatives and events in order to bring developers together and share best practices with studios of all skill levels.
