Epic Games acquires Agog Labs

SkookumScript developers will cease work on the Unreal Engine 4 plugin to work on "exciting new projects" with Epic

Agog Labs, the developer of SkookumScript for Unreal Engine 4, has been acquired by Epic Games for an undisclosed amount.

According to Agog Labs' LinkedIn page, the deal went through in December but was only announced by the company this week.

It marks the second recent acquisition by Epic Games who announced yesterday that it had brought Serbia-based graphics firm 3Lateral into the fold.

Agog Labs' was awarded a Unreal Dev Grant in 2015 and went on to develop SkookumScript -- a scripting solution and command console for creating AI, gameplay and high-level stage direction.

The company announced that it was working on "exciting new projects" with Epic, but will cease development of SkookumScript; it will remain available as a community-supported plugin for Unreal Engine 4 however.

Conan Reis, CEO of Agog Labs said: "Here at Agog Labs our goal has always been to create authoring and development tools that allow people to focus on bringing their passionate imaginings to life.

"We melt our brains so you don't have to. Epic has the same goals and spark of mad science, which makes it easy to align our paths. We're honored to become part of the Epic family."
