Cloudhead's The Gallery crowned game of the year at VR Awards 2018

Meanwhile, HTC takes home the gong for best headset with Vive Pro

Episodic puzzle adventure The Gallery was the big winner at this year's VR Awards.

Cloudhead Games was given the VR Game of the Year award at tonight's ceremony in London, specifically for The Gallery - Episode 2: Heart of the Emberstone.

The title fended off competition from Beat Games' Beat Saber, Ready At Dawn's Lone Echo, InXile Entertainment's The Mage's Tale, nDreams' Shooty Fruity and a double threat from Bethesda - Fallout 4 VR and Skyrim VR - to name but a few.

The Cloudhead adventure was one of 12 winners named tonight, whittled down from 105 finalists across categories that ranged from video games and out of home experiences to architecture, healthcare and social impact.

HTC won another significant prize, with Vive Pro crowned Headset of the Year. It beat sister product Vive Focus, rival Oculus Go and the lesser-known VRHero 5K Plus by VRgineers.

There were three other games-related winners, including Schell Games which took the prize for VR Education of the Year with its chemistry-themed challenge HoloLab Champions. Meanwhile, Neurogaming - a joint venture between VRTech and World of Tanks firm Wargaming - was named Rising VR Company of the Year.

Finally, The Void's Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire won the Out of Home Experience category, with a representative thanking the contribution from Unreal Engine creator Epic Games.
