Bandai Namco Europe takes majority stake in Limbic

The company wants the Park Beyond developer to "become the new reference in strategy and simulation games"

Bandai Namco Europe has increased its investment in German developer Limbic Entertainment, taking a majority stake.

The company had acquired a minority stake in the studio in February 2021, and since then had announced the Limbic team was working on sim title Park Beyond.

This investment follows Bandai Namco Europe's strategy to "accelerate Western development capabilities," the announcement said.

CEO Arnaud Muller added that the investment "will help Limbic become the new reference in strategy and simulation games," and that there is "much more to come" following the release of Park Beyond due in 2023.

Limbic is based in Langen, Germany, and employs 90 staff. It previously worked with Ubisoft on the Might & Magic franchise and with Kalypso Media on Tropico 6.

We had a chat with Arnaud Muller at Gamescom, who talked us through Bandai Namco's strategy and why Elden Ring was "just the beginning."
