Autodesk buys Scaleform for $36m

Middleware firm's lead execs joining 3ds Max outfit

3ds Max and Maya creator Autodesk has confirmed its planned acquisition of middleware firm Scaleform.

Costing $36 million, the deal entails keeping on most of Scaleform's approximately 30 staff and will see its CEO Brendan Iribe, CTO Michael Antonov and COO Marc Bennett all become Autodesk executives.

Scaleform's primary software is Scaleform GFX, which focuses on UIs for games. It is apparently used in over 800 titles on multiple platforms.
