505 Games to publish first title by Typhoon Studios

New developer led by Far Cry 4 director Alex Hutchinson working on multi-platform project

Typhoon Studios has teamed up with 505 Games for the release of its first title.

The project itself remains unannounced, but it will be for multiple platforms and will "let players drive the action", playing into Typhoon's focus on "intertwined [gameplay] systems" and collaborative play.

Typhoon Studios is, of course, notable for being co-founded by Alex Hutchinson, creative director on Far Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed. He left Ubisoft Montreal last year, and spoke to us at length about his plans for Typhoon back in January.

Hutchinson's fellow co-founders are former Warner Bros Games Montreal technical director Yassine Riahi and that studio's co-founder Reid Schneider.

Typhoon's debut title will join the ever-expanding line-up of games being published by 505 Games, which includes Otherside Entertainmnet's Underworld Ascendant (the spiritual successor to Ultima Underworld), Koji Igarashi's crowdfunded Castlevania-esque Bloodstained, and Remedy Entertainment's Control, the studio's first multi-format title since 2002.

"As a smaller independent studio, finding partners who will support our creative vision by giving us the freedom to build our game our way is a top priority," said Hutchinson. "505 Games not only provides us that creative control, they offer deep support from a partner who really understands how to elevate indie games and bring out the best in the studios they team up with. Their track record speaks for itself."

505 Games president Neil Ralley added: "We've been steadily expanding our portfolio over the last few years by identifying and partnering with unique indie studios poised to make fantastic quality game. Once we saw the project Alex, Yassine, Reid and the team at Typhoon is developing, we jumped at the opportunity to be a part of it. We're always on the hunt for creative, innovative games and developers and this one certainly fits the bill perfectly. We look forward to helping Typhoon bring their exciting vision to life."
