17-year-old reportedly arrested over GTA 6 hack

London Police announce hacking arrest; journalist says youth suspected in breaches of Rockstar, possibly Uber

The person behind last weekend's leak of Grand Theft Auto 6 footage may have been arrested.

The City of London Police today announced that they arrested a 17-year-old in Oxfordshire on suspicion of hacking as part of a UK National Cyber Crime Unit investigation.

While the authorities did not specify details of the hack in question, journalist Matthew Keys said a source with knowledge of the matter told him the arrest stemmed from the Rockstar Games hack that led to the GTA 6 leak.

Earlier this week, Uber revealed that a number of its employee accounts were also compromised recently, saying it believed the hacking group Lapsus$ was responsible, with the same culprit reportedly behind the Rockstar breach.

Uber said it was working with the FBI in that case, and Keys reported the FBI was likewise involved in the National Cyber Crime Unit investigation.

The City of London Police said the child remains in custody.
