Zynga's CityVille is biggest app in Facebook history

Social game overtakes FarmVille with 84.2m MUAs

Zynga's latest Facebook game CityVille has leapfrogged the firm's banner title FarmVille, and now boasts some 88.5 million monthly active users against its predecessor's 58.2 million.

This makes CityVille the biggest app in Facebook history, overtaking FarmVille's March 2010 record of 83.8 million MAUs.

Analysis by Inside Social Games suggest a significant portion of CityVille's audience may be fairweather, however, claiming only around 20 per cent of MUAs became daily active users. FarmVille, by contrast, saw 40 per cent stickiness at its peak.

CityVille is drawing around 2 million new MUAs per day, but may soon hit the ceiling of Facebook's 200 million projected game-players.
