Nailing down supplies of Wii Fit plus - in curiously short supply - Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

November 27, 2008 – Nintendo Wii Fit is still flying off the shelves, with even the major retailers running out of stock in a matter of minutes. But savvy shoppers searching for this must have game can avoid the scramble thanks to real time stock alert website,, which checks supplier websites in real-time to find out when and where the latest stock can be had.

Wii Fit has been in very short supply since its release in April 2008. This stock shortage mirrors the same stock supply issue that Nintendo had with their Wii games console earlier this year.

Darren Mckillop, webmaster, says: “The Wii Fit stock issues we’re seeing now are even worse than the Wii console stock issues we saw last Xmas. Wii Fit has been hard to buy for almost 8 months now and I’m not aware of any gaming product that has ever been in short supply for this length of time. With Xmas approaching again I can see this game being out of stock for another 2 months at least”

In an attempt to cash in on the shortages most retailers are refusing to sell Wii Fit without additional games or accessories. Darren Mckillop comments, “ The only upside to these forced bundles is that retailers seem to be doing so many different combinations, you don’t have to look too hard to find a bundled game or games that you actually want” visitors can find out where the game is in stock and which suppliers are offering the best deals and discounts for Wii Fit at retail price and bundled packages. The site scans the big suppliers as often as every 30 seconds to secure the most up-to-date information about availability. If stock arrives online visitors have the choice of being alerted with a popup message or a loud audible alarm. People can also sign up to one of several mailing lists and be notified of new stock via email.

Darren Mckillop says: “Nintendo are having stock shortages across the board this Xmas. Nintendo DS handheld consoles and Nintendo Wii consoles are running low again. Even some DS games can be hard to find in stock”.

The website also runs a tracker page for a popular Nintendo DS game – Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Darren says: “Professor Laytons has been out of stock almost everywhere for weeks. Just like Wii Fit, stock is selling really fast. One of our retailers was informed by Nintendo that there would be no more stock of this game coming into the UK until after Xmas”

Wii Fit is a Nintendo game that comes bundled with the Wii Balance Board – a board about the size of a pair of bathroom scales that connects wirelessly to a Wii console. Players step on the board and Wii Fit calculates their body mass index and Wii Fit ‘age’ – or level of fitness – with some basic balance exercises. They can choose from more than 40 strength training, aerobic, balance and yoga activities – from slalom skiing and football to press-ups and warrior poses – all guided by an on-screen instructor.

Wii Fit retails at around £70, including the Wii Balance Board which is also suitable for a number of other Wii games such as Shaun White Snowboarding and Family Ski.
