China-exclusive Vive Focus coming to Western markets this year

Development kits for the mobile VR headset available from today

The Vive Focus, which until now has only available in China, will be coming to global markets later this year HTC has confirmed.

As a mobile headset with six degrees of freedom, the Vive Focus is the first of its kind to made commercially available.

The hardware firm is also making developer kits available to registered developers in most countries starting today.

"Built upon Vive Wave, our open VR platform and toolset that is unifying the development experience for standalone and mobile VR devices," said HTC Vive social media manager Matthew Gepp in a blog post.

"Along with Viveport as its content platform, Vive Focus is designed to appeal to a wider range of mass market audiences as well as commercial/enterprise users who want broad deployment and stunning VR experiences in a convenient and portable form factor"
