Virtual Skipper 5

What's that, Skippy? There are some new videos?

26th September 2008

Virtual Skipper 5, the latest edition of the successful series of 3D regatta simulation games from Ascaron and 93 Games will be released in October 2008. In this new version players take the helm of luxury sailing boats, racing across the open water of more internationally renowned ocean courses than ever before, including Qingdao, the sailing venue for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Ascaron and 93 Games have released a new game trailer and five in-game videos, which can be viewed online at the new web site, www.VirtualSkipper-Game.com.

Enjoyable to watch even for non-sailors, the official Virtual Skipper 5 videos introduce the boat classes featured in the game; the Offshore Racer, Melges 24, ACC and Class Open 60 trimarans. All the boats are authentically rendered and animated as they navigate through 14 renowned sailing courses.

Virtual Skipper 5 uses multiple high-quality shaders to create realistic nautical water and weather effects. Changeable factors which will affect sailing conditions are water depth, which changes colour as it varies, weather conditions and the time of the day.

The game offers sophisticated wave animations that mimic actual wave dynamics, currents, rotating winds and chop, all of which are integrated and interdependent.

Virtual Skipper 5 is the re-released version of the successful 32nd America’s Cup sailing simulation game.
