For immediate release

September 14, 2004

Virtual Projects today announced the release of version 2.3 of JoyMouse, an intriguing utility application that allows using any standard joystick as a complete mouse device substitute. Experts believe that the application will be top of a wish list for hardcore gamers and computer enthusiasts who, for some reason, cannot use a conventional mouse device or want to have a more sophisticated and functional manipulating tool in their hands.

JoyMouse v.2.3 supports all six possible joystick axes, 32 buttons, 4/8-direction POV and allows emulating all mouse actions on a standard analog or digital joystick while providing for dozens of other handy actions and keystroke sequences to be assigned to action-free buttons and POV. What is more, you can go beyond the physical limitations of a 32-button joystick and make use of Action Shift function to get each joystick button trigger two actions instead of one. For all its sophistication, the technology implemented in JoyMouse is as simple as a pencil drawing a picture. With advanced motion control system, the user can move the pointer smoother, speed up or slow down pointer movement by pressing or releasing the joystick handle. Additionally, the pointer can gain some latency amount, go in reverse and wrap through the display edges. With intuitive and user-friendly interface, joystick setup and mapping configuration will require minimum of time and efforts.

The latest version of JoyMouse features such distinctive functionality as:

  • 100% mouse emulation with extensive customization capabilities;
  • Support for any Microsoft-compatible joystick/joypad including the joypad for Sony Playstation/Playstation 2 with USB;
  • Support for 6 joystick axes, 32 buttons and 4/8-direction POV;
  • Action Shift option to double the number of assigned actions;
  • Configuration wizard for hands-free joystick calibration;
