UK Charts: No new games as FIFA 18 takes No.1 yet again

Mario Kart leaps up four places

The quiet start to 2018 continues with no new boxed games in this week's Top 40.

Gravel from Milestone is the only physical title of any note released last week, and that only made No.42.

It means that games are jumping up the charts with little to no sales growth. Like Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, which is back in the Top Five at No.4 with a 1% sales increase (Mario Odyssey and Zelda also move up the charts as Switch celebrates its first birthday).

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, the physical Xbox One version, rises 7 places to No.8 thanks to a small 4% sales increase.

I say small, but any sales growth is good this week. Take for instance the Top Three: FIFA 18 retains the No.1 spot, despite a 29% dip in sales, Rockstar's GTA V remains at No.2, despite a 24% sales dip, and Call of Duty: WWII is still at No.3, despite a 15% sales drop.

Moving forward, things don't look much better. A smattering of small scale boxed releases dominate the start of March, before bigger titles arrive towards the end - namely Sea of Thieves on Xbox One and Far Cry 5.

Here is the UKIE/GFK Top 10 for week ending March 3rd

Last Week This Week Title
1 1 FIFA 18
