UK charts: GTA V beats TT: Isle of Man racing game to No.1

Bravo Team is at No.3

We had to wait a few extra days this week to discover that GTA V is the UK's No.1 boxed game of the week for a 15th time.

Rockstar's never ending seller saw a sales rise of 21%. The game has sold well over 7m copies in the UK alone - excluding digital sales.

The game incredibly just narrowly beats TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge - a motorcycle racing game (from Big Ben) that's all about the Isle of Man's Snaefell Mountain Course. It might well rank as one of the most niche games ever to grace the charts - let alone make it to second spot.

60% of TT's sales were on PS4, with 40% on Xbox One.

There's another new game at No.3, too, in the form of Sony's Bravo Team for PlayStation VR. The game has not won over critics, but it is a more mainstream VR shooter, and as a result it's clearly attracted an audience.

Sticking with new entries, the boxed version of Life is Strange: Before The Storm makes No.18, while Square Enix's other new release - Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition - lands at No.31.

FIFA 18, which has been topping the charts in recent weeks, drops to No.4 after a 43% sales drop. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: WWII also falls two places to No.5 with an 8% sales slide.

The continued popularity of Nintendo Switch means that the Nintendo power three continue to perform well. Those three being Mario Kart 8: Deluxe at No.6, Super Mario Odyssey at No.7 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at No.10. All three games fell down the charts slightly, but they all still increased in sales.

Overall, the arrival of the new games sees the market improve by 10% week-on-week in terms of game sales.

The charts arrived late this week due to an issue with a retailer supplying data.
