Ubisoft offers $10,000 dev content prize

Child of Eden promotion sees Mizuguchi judge music-themed entries

Ubisoft has partnered with gaming portal Kongregate to offer a $10,000 first prize for a new game development contest, to promote the release of the forthcoming Child of Eden.

Game director Tetsuya Mizuguchi will act as a judge in the Experience the Music contest, with organisers challenging entrants "to electrify the senses by creating a game that synchronises music and unique gameplay".

As the spiritual sequel to Rez, Child of Eden is the latest in a long line of Mizuguchi titles which prominently feature interactive soundtracks, including puzzle game Lumines and Space Channel 5.

The grand prize is $10,000, with second place winning $3,000 and third place $2,000. Initial entries will be voted on by the Kongregate community, with the top 25 entering a final round of judging overseen by Mizuguchi and GameSpot editor Ricardo Torres.

Entries are being accepted until June 21, with further information available at the official website.
