Tiga Model Contract Published

Tiga (the trade body that represents the business and commercial interests of games developers, see www.tiga.org) is delighted to announce the recent publication of the Entertainment Law Handbook by top legal publishers Law Society Publishing.

The Entertainment Law Handbook includes a section on the video games industry alongside sections on the music, film and television businesses. It also includes the Tiga model contract for video game publishing and marks a further step in Tiga's ongoing commitment to the development of "business neutral" industry standard contracts.

The video games section of the Entertainment Law Handbook was written by Vincent Scheurer, Tiga's company secretary. Vincent commented: "The addition of a section on video games in a book for entertainment lawyers reflects the increasing importance of the video games industry in the wider entertainment spectrum. The video games industry is simply no longer the poor relation of the music and film industries."

Fred Hasson, Tiga CEO commented: "The publication of the Tiga model contract in such an important work is an important milestone in Tiga¹s project to develop business neutral model contracts. By reducing the time and cost of negotiating and concluding game development contracts, this project should result in substantial savings to games developers and publishers alike. This is a testament to the hard work and funding provided by Tiga and its Members together with the DTI, Game Republic and Game Horizon."

The Entertainment Law Handbook is available to Tiga members at a 10% discount from the current price of £130.00 until the 1st July 2007. For more details about the Entertainment Law Handbook visit www.sarassin.net or lawsociety.org.uk.
