Telltale pulls season passes for The Walking Dead: The Final Season
Studio still in talks for avenues to complete season after laying off majority of its workforce last week
Telltale has removed The Walking Dead: The Final Season from storefronts pending exploration of other avenues to finish its remaining two episodes following the mass layoff of at least 250 employees.
In a comment to Polygon following its report on the removal of the game, a representative confirmed that the season passes had been removed deliberately by the developer.
"We're currently still working to find a way to hand off production of episodes 3 and 4 so that the season can be completed," the representative said. "The outcome of those efforts will determine when and how The Final Season returns to stores. We hope to have a firm announcement before the end of the week. For now, we apologize for any inconvenience."
The future of the series came into question late last week after Telltale laid off the majority of its staff reportedly due to a failed finance round where at least one backer bailed unexpectedly as the deal neared completion.
Since then, Telltale employees have filed a class-action lawsuit against the company alleging it violated a state and federal law by not giving advance notice of the layoffs, as well as by not providing severance or benefits beyond the end of the month to affected employees.
