Team17 chart success

XBLA's top two global chart positions secured by Worms 2 Armageddon and Alien Breed Evolution.

Not content with achieving an excellent chart position of No.2 with ALIEN BREED EVOLUTION, the recently released single or co-op shooter based on their cult Amiga original, Team17 had a grip on both the top two global chart positions courtesy of WORMS 2 ARMAGEDDON sitting pretty as Xbox Live Arcade’s Christmas No.1.

Obviously this is a fantastic achievement for the studio, Independent developers/publishers everywhere, Britsoft and of course, Yorkshire games development! This follows the company’s impressive success with Worms for iPhone, which topped the charts for a considerable length of time and also in 11 different countries around the world and became the 3rd best selling App Store game of 2009.

“Our mission is to deliver high quality, excellent value digital download titles which we can publish independently in partnership with the major platform holders. The success of these titles underlines that capability and is a fantastic achievement for the studio, which celebrates 20yrs later this year.” Martyn Brown, Joint CEO, Team17.

Worms 2 Armageddon was released July 2009 and is priced at 800msp ($10/£6.50)

Alien Breed Evolution was released December 2009 and is also priced at 800msp. ($10/£7)

The original Worms for XBLA, which has now been downloaded in excess of 2.5m times and was in the top 10 for over 30 weeks, is still available at just 400msp. ($5/£3.50)

Worms for iPhone is available on App Store for $4.99/£2.99 and was released in the summer of 2009.

Team17, established in 1990, are currently developing and publishing original IP exclusively on digital download platforms.
