Steve Felter appointment

Former Walt Disney man eats his greens and becomes CEO.

Los Angeles, California March 9, 2011 – GameSalad Inc. (formerly Gendai Games) which empowers aspiring and established game designers to easily develop web and mobile games, today announced the addition of Steve Felter as the company’s Chief Executive Officer.  Felter takes over for co-founder and former CEO, Michael Agustin, who will lead product strategy going forward as Chief Product Officer.

GameSalad is the largest third-party development tool for creating games on Apple’s mobile platforms.  With GameSalad, game makers can rapidly design, publish and distribute original games for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Web without needing to write a line of code.  To date, GameSalad’s free-to-use, drag-and-drop game creation platform has been used to create over 4,500 games, including more than 30 top 100 U.S. Games in Apple’s App Store.

“Since putting our free game creation tools in the hands of game designers, GameSalad has taken off, quickly becoming the de facto game creation platform for mobile and the web” said Agustin.  “Steve’s proven success in managing rapid growth companies will greatly benefit GameSalad as we continue to expand, allowing me to focus on building out our product vision and designing great experiences for our customers.”

“Democratizing game development is a mission I believe in, and it’s amazing to see our platform empower a whole new generation of game developers,” said Felter.  “We have an incredible team, awesome product, passionate developer community, and exciting stuff in the pipeline.  This is going to be a big year for GameSalad.”

Before joining GameSalad, Felter served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of DigiSynd, a social media marketing and analytics company he helped start and managed from inception through funding, acquisition, and integration into The Walt Disney Company.  At Disney, Steve oversaw operations for Disney’s first in-house social media division, implementing social media strategies for Disney’s top brands including Pixar, ESPN, and Disney Interactive Studios. During his tenure, Disney’s Facebook properties grew to over 100M fans, establishing Disney as one of the top ranked social brands. Prior to Disney/DigiSynd, Steve worked in Corporate Business Development and Strategy at Warner Bros. where he focused on M&A, investments and strategic partnerships for the studio.
