LOS ANGELES (September 14, 2009) – TAITO Corporation (TAITO®), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd., today announced that its legendary shooting game SPACE INVADERS® has released simultaneously with the launch of the Application Store, a mobile application sales channel operated by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (SAMSUNG).
Ever since its 1978 release to worldwide acclaim, pioneering video game SPACE INVADERS has been enjoyed by millions and played on a wide variety of platforms including arcade game machines, consoles and mobile phones.
SPACE INVADERS retains the classic game premise, in which the player guides a beam cannon left and right, attempting to fend off waves of descending alien attackers. This edition of the game features an easy and intuitive touch screen interface that takes full advantage of the Samsung phone’s capabilities.
