Sony PSP drops digital comic service

No more updates for PSP, but old content will be accessible

Sony has announced that it will no longer support the digital comics service on the PSP.

In a recent post on the official PlayStation blog, PlayStation Store director Grace Chen listed the comics included in the latest update, and revealed it would be the final one.

"The Digital Comics Team will continue to work on bringing the comic service to other Sony devices," reads the post.

"We’ll make sure to keep you updated with any future developments right here on the PlayStation.Blog. In the meantime, you can continue to download any of the over 4,000 existing comics from the comic store as usual."

The service featured books from publishers like Marvel and DC Comics, which could be purchased for around $2. The move could be in preparation for the launch of Sony's new handheld, the PlayStation Vita, but that isn't expected to launch until the end of the year.
