Sony Pictures Digital launches Ratchet & Clank: Going Mobile

Bonus features provide unique integration with latest PS2 title

Sony Pictures Digital has announced the US launch of Ratchet & Clank: Going Mobile, featuring exclusive codes which can be inputted into the latest PS2 game for bonus artwork and gameplay features.

Featuring a return to the unique look, feel and humour of the original console series, Ratchet & Clank: Going Mobile spans seventeen levels of platform action and includes a number of the inventive and devastating weaponry found in the console games.

The daring duo have been shrunk, and are essentially trapped in the player's mobile phone, which is a nice twist that emphasises the unique platform for the title. The game is now available through major carriers in the US, and will be extensively advertised in conjunction with the latest PS2 offering, Ratchet: Deadlocked.

Through successful completion of certain levels within the game, players will be offered exclusive codes. Inputting these codes through a menu option in the PS2 game will unlock unique character models and bonus content. Sony Pictures Digital will be utilising this enhanced integration through numerous marketing and promotional activities; encouraging the purchase of both titles in order to maximise the gameplay experience.

In addition to the critically acclaimed mobile game, a selection of wallpapers and bonus content can be downloaded from the Sony Pictures Digital website, or by texting a dedicated number, which again will feature heavily on the company's advertising in conjunction with Sony Computer Entertainment America.

Mobile versions of traditional videogames are becoming increasingly popular, although the enhanced integration between the two using bonus codes and exclusive content is something which could prove extremely popular with consumers. It also helps to reinforce the validity of the mobile platform as a viable and lucrative channel for developers and publishers alike.
