Softkinetic And Virtools Team-Up To Deliver Innovative 3D Game Development Solutions

Leading 3D Gesture Recognition Company and Premier 3D Interactive Real-Time Engine Provider Join Forces to Provide Developers with Tools to Create Immersive and Intuitive Gameplay Experiences

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAN FRANCISCO - February 18, 2008 - Softkinetic S.A. announced today at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) a partnership with 3DVIA's Virtools to incorporate its gesture recognition application as part of Virtools' suite of integrated 3D software solutions. The collaboration provides video game creators with a comprehensive software solution for building real-time 3D experiences with superior graphics and complex interactivity. Initially, Softkinetic's iisu TM technology will be fully compatible and integrated with Virtools 4.1 development platform. It is the most comprehensive solution for building and deploying 3D experiences on personal computers, game consoles, and the web.

"Softkinetic's iisu technology will enhance Virtools 4 product line that is known for its unique behavioral engine," said Virgile Delporte Vice President of Electronic Entertainment, 3DVIA. "Our partnership with Softkinetic will bring innovation to the growing market of experiential, 3D games."

"We have been using Virtools for more than four years as our 3D engine and game development tool," said Michel Tombroff, Softkinetic's CEO. "Partnering with Virtools, a world leader in 3D solutions, to bring marker-less full-body 3D gesture recognition to life was a natural choice for us."

Softkinetic's patent pending iisu TM 3D gesture recognition software takes interactivity to a new level allowing players to interact directly with the games, through a 3D camera, without the need for a controller. The iisu TM middleware platform supports all available 3D depth sensing cameras and insulates game and application developers from the low-level technicalities of the cameras. A rich set of interfaces allows developers to focus on gameplay design and development and dramatically reduces development cycles. Softkinetic's iisu TM is delivered as a Software Development Kit (SDK) to developers, and includes technical consulting, 3D graphics and application development services.
