Riptide Games and Projkt Nine join forces

New company will trade under the name Riptide Games Corp.

Mobile developers Riptide Games, Inc. and Projkt Nine, Inc. have announced a merger, set to take place over the next few weeks.

The two companies worked closely on several projects over the last year, including the iLookApps series, which has been downloaded more than 2 million times to date.

The new company will trade under the name Riptide Games Corp. and be headquartered in Denver, where Riptide is currently based. However, it will also retain Projkt Nine's Ottawa office, employing 11 people overall.

"Our teams are very complementary to each other" said Riptide founder Brian Robbins, who will be president of the new company. "Our combined forces bring together extremely talented programmers with amazing graphic and game designers, so we're perfectly positioned to create the best of tomorrow's mobile experiences."

"I am very excited about this merger." added Projkt Nine founder Mike Montgomery, who will assume the role of chief creative officer. "With the success of the titles already released, and the current titles in the works, we have a very big year ahead of us."

The company's latest collaboration, My Pet Zombie, is already available on the Canadian app store, and will be released worldwide later this month. According to a statement on Riptide's website, the new company will be dedicated to creating more titles in the same vein.

The next project is tentatively called "Sumo", and is scheduled for release later in the year.
