Remaining Telltale staffers laid off - Report

UPDATE: Former narrative designer confirms her "skeleton crew" lost their jobs, but "there are still good people at the company"

Whatever hope there was for a Telltale Games turnaround took a hit today, as it appears the small team of employees who survived last month's mass layoffs have now joined their former colleagues, according to now-former Telltale narrative designer Rachel Noel.

"Heeeeyyyy remember how there was going to be a skeleton crew staying on for a while and I was part of it? Nah, jk, we all just got laid off, too," Noel said on Twitter.

An inquiry to Telltale was not immediately returned.

About 250 of Noel's co-workers were laid off in September as Telltale said it would go forward with a staff of about 25 people "to fulfill the company's obligations to its board and partners." The remaining developers were said to be working on a Minecraft: Story Mode interactive adventure for Netflix.

A few days later, Telltale announced it was talking with potential partners who might be able to complete the final season of Telltale's flagship The Walking Dead franchise, which had already seen two of its four planned episodes released. Yesterday, Kotaku reported that Telltale was hoping to have another studio finish up the series by hiring ex-Telltale developers.

UPDATE: Noel has since clarified via Twitter that these latest layoffs have not affected the entirety of the Telltale survivors.

"I think there was some misunderstanding about my earlier message," she wrote. "There are still good people at the company. MY team is done."

When asked what the remaining staff were working on, Noel said she was unsure. She was also asked how many Telltale employees are left, but only responded: "Not many."
