RED AND YELLOW AND PINK AND GREEN, ORANGE AND PURPLE AND… GOLD!

Rainbow Islands Revolution enters duplication

Friday 10 February 2006/... Rising Star Games has announced that the eagerly anticipated Nintendo DSTM update to Rainbow Islands, the Taito arcade legend, has 'gone gold' and is entering the final phase of production.

Revolutionising the original's platforming antics with a completely touchscreen-based control method, Rainbow Islands Revolution is expected to arrive on shop shelves in mid-to-late March - some nineteen years after Rainbow Islands first hit the arcades in 1987. With an updated graphical style that remains true to the classic Taito aesthetic and additional gameplay modes including competitive multiplayer races, Rainbow Islands Revolution is set to bring those rainbows back to fans of the original and captivate newcomers alike.

Rainbow Islands Revolution is the third title in Rising Star Games' series of DS updates to Taito arcade favourites, but it's by no means the last. Rising Star will be announcing the next title in the Revolution series in the spring, welcoming another gone-but-not-forgotten classic onto the Nintendo DS.

Martin DeFries, COO, Rising Star Games comments: "Rainbow Islands Revolution is a brilliant adaptation of one of our all-time favourite games, so we're overjoyed to finally see it enter the final stage of production. It lives up to its promise, which is to deliver those old-school thrills and demanding challenges on modern, revolutionary hardware, with nothing from the original left out and plenty of new features brought in."

Feature list:

  • All the islands, enemies and power-ups of the original - including secrets and authentic sound effects.
  • A clean, updated visual style in keeping with the original.
  • Two brand-new secret characters, designed by Harvest Moon artist Igusa Matsuyama.
  • Single player Story and Score Attack modes.
  • Wireless competitive multiplayer races for up to four players.
