Real builds out mobile entertainment business with set of European appointments

21 August, 2007, London, UK - Digital Entertainment Services company RealNetworks, announced today that it has made a number of appointments within its European mobile entertainment business. The changes will see Gunnar Larsén, currently European Director, Mobile Games at Real become Product Marketing Director, Mobile Entertainment while Jeremy Wells and Stefano Tagliapietra join Real's Mobile Games EMEA unit as Sales Director and Key Account Manager, Southern Europe respectively.

Based in London with RealNetworks since May 2005, Larsén was responsible for driving the RealArcade mobile business in Europe. In his new role, he now assumes broad responsibility for Real's mobile entertainment product marketing and communication strategies in EMEA where he will also serve as an evangelist for the company's mobile entertainment vision in the region.

Larsén commented: "As the dynamics of the mobile market continue to evolve, we see significant growth opportunities in enabling consumers to enjoy digital entertainment whenever and wherever they want. Real is very well positioned to provision the next generation of digital entertainment on multiple platforms for both consumers and operators alike. I am excited to be moving into this new role which reflects Real's commitment to the creation and delivery of a compelling experience on mobile covering not only games content but music, video and TV as well."

Stefano Tagliapietra has a history in the mobile industry having worked since 2004 as Head of Games at France Telecom Group and before that as Account Manager, Business development & strategic alliances, Amena (now Orange Spain). Tagliapietra also has considerable experience of implementing a range of Wap, IVR, SMS and MMS services.

Jeremy Wells comes to Real from Vodafone Group Marketing where as Content Development Manager he helped to communicate Group games strategy across Vodafone's various operating companies and partner networks. Prior to this Wells helped to define and implement the games strategy for O2 as the mobile operator's Product Manager (Games). Together, Wells and Tagliapietra will now forge new business growth opportunities for Real's mobile games content business in key European markets.
