Patrick Bach leaving DICE - Report

GM of Swedish studio leaving after 15 years with EA's Battlefield studio

Patrick Bach is leaving EA DICE, according to a report from PlayStation Lifestyle. The site reported the news today citing a source familiar with the situation, then updated with confirmation quotes from Bach and EA.

"I've had an epic ride at DICE and EA, filled with amazingly creative and passionate people, and unforgettable experiences with our player community," Bach said. "I'll certainly be playing Battlefield 1 for a long, long time to come, and I look forward to seeing what's next from the incredible team at DICE."

EA Worldwide Studios executive VP Patrick Söderlund offered his best wishes, saying, "Patrick Bach has been a great colleague to many across DICE and EA for almost 15 years. We thank him for all of his contributions, especially to our Battlefield franchise and community, and wish him all the best on his next adventure."

Bach's involvement in DICE predates the studio's acquisition by Electronic Arts. He joined Digital Illusions CE AB in 2002 and was lead designer on the studio's Xbox-exclusive Rallisport Challenge 2. He went on to serve as writer, designer, and producer on the original Bad Company spin-off to the Battlefield franchise. He was bumped up to senior producer for the sequel to that game, and executive producer on Battlefield 3 and 4. As the studio's VP and GM, he oversaw the production and launch of Star Wars: Battlefront, Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, and last month's debut of Battlefield 1.

PlayStation Lifestyle reported that Bach was leaving his post to spend more time with his family.
