Paradox CEO Ebba Ljungerud leaves due to "differing views on company strategy"

Former CEO Fredrik Wester is to step back into his old role

Paradox Interactive CEO Ebba Ljungerud has stepped down from her position "due to differing views on the company's strategy going forward."

She is being replaced by Fredrik Wester, who had previously held that position for almost ten years, before stepping down in 2018. Since then, Wester had remained at the company as executive chairman of the board. He has now resigned from this position as he becomes CEO once again.

Håkan Sjunnesson, former deputy chairman of the board, has become chairman following Wester's resignation.

No further detail was given concerning the reasons behind Ljungerud's departure, who was a non-executive director of the Paradox board for four years before succeeding to Wester in 2018.

She will remain at the company "for a period" to "ensure a good handover," the announcement added.

Sjunnesson commented: "Ebba has done a fantastic job as CEO of Paradox Interactive. During her leadership the organisation, player base and our game projects have been strengthened and grown which give the company a strong base for future growth. We regret that she has decided to resign but wish her all the best in future endeavours."

Earlier this year, Ljungerud had admitted that Paradox was "not satisfied" with its Q1 results, saying that the company can "do better."
