Funcom, Massive Entertainment and Vendler Game Consulting became the first companies to receive Nordic Game Awards at the inaugural ceremony last night.

The ceremony took place at the Malmö Exhibition and Convention Center, where the two-day Nordic Game conference kicked off yesterday.

Massive won the Most Innovative Game Technology award for World in Conflict. The other nominees were Remedy for Alan Wake and Funcom for Age of Conan.

Funcom did pick up the trophy for Most Promising Nordic Game Project however, again for Age of Conan. A company from each country in the Nordic region was nominated for the award - Sweden's Massive (World in Conflict), IO Interactive from Denmark (Kane and Lynch), Finland's Remedy (Alan Wake), Norway's Funcom (Age of Conan) and from Iceland, Gogogic (Boss of Bosses).

The final award, presented by IGDA president Jason Della Rocca, was for Best New Nordic Game Talent. Vendler Game Consulting saw off Lockpick and Gogogic to take the trophy home.
