Miyamoto "banned" from talking about hobbies

Nintendo developer asked to keep quiet to avoid hints on new products

Nintendo has "banned" games designer Shigeru Miyamoto - the man behind the success of products such as Brain Training, Wii Fit and Wii Music - from talking publicly about his hobbies, for fear of giving competitors an insight into what the company might be working on next.

That's according to a report in The Times, which cites "sources" at the company and points out that Miyamoto's hobbies in the past - puzzles, exercise, music lessons - have all translated into significant successes for Nintendo.

"In short, the gaming and investment communities are wondering which of his current pastimes will be translated into a virtual rendition that will attract millions of sales five years from now," the article concludes.
