Mario Kart 8: Deluxe races back to pole position | UK Charts

Ring Fit Adventure holds firm at No.2

The three-year-old Nintendo Switch port of the six-year-old Wii U game has reclaimed No.1 in the UK boxed charts.

Mario Kart 8: Deluxe sales surged 70% week-on-week, rising up six places to No.1. It means that Ring Fit Adventure, another Nintendo Switch game, remains at No.2 for a second consecutive week.

There are no new releases in the latest charts. Last week's new game, 51 Worldwide Games for Nintendo Switch, drops from No.6 to No.9. However, sales only dipped 18% over its launch week, which is a strong performance and suggests the game may hover around in the charts for some time.

It's a strong week for Switch games overall, with numerous games enjoying a bump in sales week-on-week, including Minecraft (No.7), Luigi's Mansion 3 (No.10), New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe (No.13), Pokémon Sword (No.15), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (No.20), Pokémon Shield (No.43), Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 (No.23), Super Mario Odyssey (No.26), Super Smash Bros Ultimate (No.27), The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (No.84), Super Mario Maker (No.48) and Super Mario Party (No.37).

In total, there are 15 Nintendo-published games in the Top 40 chart this week.

The bump in sales came as a result of more Switch consoles coming to market during the week, and with retailers putting together special bundles. Certain stores have not been selling Switch consoles separately, instead requiring customers to buy the machine with select games, including many of those listed above.

Elsewhere, Forza Horizon 4 is back in the top ten at No.8. The game is currently included in a cut price bundle with Xbox One X.

All data is just for physical game sales.
