March Mayhem: Developers' Tournament

The Escapist's face-off whittled down to final four.

DURHAM, NC (April 4, 2008) - The Escapist's March Mayhem: Developers' Tournament is down to its last four competitors! The 64-developer tournament is now down to four studios, as decided by the gaming community at large. The developers left are Bethesda Softworks, Valve Software, Turbine, Inc. and Harmonix.

March Mayhem: Developers' Showdown is based on the popular basketball tournament format. Sixty-four developers are divided into four brackets of 16 and then seeded one through 16. Then, those 16 teams face off in one-on-one "games" - the No. 1 seed goes up against the No. 16 seed, No. 2 faces off against No. 15, etc. The gaming community is invited to vote on each game in The Escapist’s forums; the winner of that voting advances to the next round. Over the course of the Showdown, the pool of 64 will be reduced to two developers. The tournament is currently in its fifth round, which will be played this Saturday, April 5. The final game will begin Monday, April 7.

Voting for the fifth round begins Saturday, April 5 around 10:00 a.m. EDT, and each game will last 24 hours. The final round begins Monday, April 7 around 10:00 a.m. EDT and voting will be open until 12:00pm on April 8.
