London MCM Expo 2009

Scenes from Halo Legends to be shown at this weekend's event, along with a life-size Warthog.

24-25 OCTOBER – EXCEL LONDON – ROYAL VICTORIA DOCK

Scenes from the long awaited animated debut of the Halo franchise, Halo Legends, will be wowing crowds in the UK for the first time at the London MCM Expo along with some of the team working on the project! On top of that, a life size replica of the Master Chief’s vehicle of choice, the Warthog, will be present for photo opportunities at the show held on 24-25 October at the Excel Centre.

Studio Bones, one of the five Japanese production houses behind Halo Legends will be attended the MCM Expo in the form of studio president Minami Masahiko and one of its directors Ando Masahiro. The pair, who have worked on anime greats such as Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Sword of Stranger and many many more, will be conducting a panel at the MCM Expo as well as answering questions from fans, showing clips from their shows, as well as footage from the recently announced Halo Legends for the first time.

Further, there will be a full size Halo M12 ‘Warthog’ LRV at the show, thought to be only the second ever built in the world. The vehicle has been constructed for use in the not-for-profit fan-film based on the Halo franchise, “Operation Chastity”

The story of Operation Chastity follows a group of United Nations Space Command Marines fighting the survivors of a crashed alien Covenant battleship, and their final battle in the conflict – a secret mission behind enemy lines which none of them are sure they will return from. The film is a self-funded effort, and shooting planned to commence in late in 2009 in the United Kingdom.

The vehicle that is going to be used for the project is an A-reg 1984 Land Rover Defender 110, rescued from the GumTree 4×4 yard before its eventual scrapping due to MoT failure. Being rebuilt by Custom Creations, the vehicle will be fitted with a whole new body, chunky off road tyres, lifted suspension and a whole host of other upgrades to make it into the futuristic combat vehicle. This is certainly not going to be your average Land Rover!
