Jagex appoints Lorenz to biz-dev role

Former WildTangent and Oberon man to seek out new business opportunities for UK company

Jagex Games Studio has announced that it has appointed Peter Lorenz as head of business development.

The company - the largest independent developer and publisher in the UK, responsible for RuneScape - has given Lorenz the remit of seeking out new business opportunities with the aim of taking the business forwards, a statement explained.

"I'm very excited to join Jagex, a company that has pioneered browser-based MMO gaming since 2001," he said. "All Jagex games have strong social gaming components, compatibility with emerging platforms and unparalleled game experiences which provide exceptional growth potential that I’m looking forward to developing as head of business development."

And Riaan Hodgson, CFO at Jagex, added: "We are delighted to welcome Peter to the Jagex team. Peter brings a wealth of industry experience to the role and joins the company at an extremely exciting time. We are always looking to employ highly skilled and experienced individuals who will help move Jagex forward and Peter truly fits the bill."

Lorenz was previously director of business development for the EMEA region at WildTangent, and before that he worked for Oberon Media.

Jagex also announced this week that it was working on a new title, a science fiction MMO entitled Stellar Dawn, scheduled for release in 2011.
