IO Interactive rebuilds studio for new era of digital games development

Hitman company also has a new logo

IO Interactive has finished work on its new Copenhagen studio as it prepares for a new era of triple-A digital games development.

The new office boasts an on-site motion capture studio, plus a variety of different spaces, table-football machines and arcade cabinets. It arrives alongside a new logo for the firm that marks - according to the release - IO's "new chapter in the digital world".

What does that mean? Well it follows on from the firm's decision to release its most recent Hitman game in an episodic format, rather than give it the traditional physical release. IO has previously been a triple-A developer that releases games in boxes, but the studio feels that "the digital distribution change has fully reached the mainstream AAA console market."

Those were the words of studio head Hannes Seifert, who spoke to Gamesindustry.biz earlier this week on the changing direction of the developer.

"IOI has always been a studio that creates unique and interesting games," Seifert said in a statement.

"It comes from the idea that we want our games to play and feel like the people that create them. Our new studio is the perfect place to continue doing that. It's an energetic, high-tech and exciting place to work that has been created specifically for our needs as an ambitious development studio."
