Dundee, September 6th 2010. The venue for the first international AppConference and AppJam, taking place in Dundee on November 2010, has been confirmed as Discovery Point, home of the RRS Discovery.

Tickets for the AppConference and the rest of the NEoN festival are now on sale. They can be booked online at: https://reg.istrations.com/delegate/events/DNDNEON2010

Tickets are priced as follows:

The AppConference is part-funded by the Interreg 'Creative City Challenge' project ( www.creative-city-challege.net). Created by Dundee College and supported by industry partners, the three day AppConference is an event looking at the creation and development of applications for new platforms such as the iPad, iPhone, Android and Facebook. Featuring a international line-up of speakers from across Europe and North America, it promises to explore the issues facing the new generation of developers, creating applications for some of the world's largest and most rapidly evolving platforms.

The AppConference combines a three day programme of speakers, panels and debates, with a 48-hour AppJam – a design competition in which teams have to create a new and original app to be judged by industry partners.

Andy Mackenzie, the project manager: creative industries for Dundee College, said, “We're very excited to be hosting the AppConference at Discovery Point. The RRS Discovery is famous worldwide, making it a perfect venue for the international AppConference and AppJam. We are now in discussions with speakers from all corners of the globe and hope to be confirming the first names within the next few days.”

The AppConference and AppJam are part of the wider NEoN digital arts festival ( www.northeastofnorth.com), which takes place across the whole of Dundee City Centre from November 8th - 15th 2010.
